The Business Post latest 100 Hot Start Ups feature  4 programme participants (across 3 ventures) and 2 co-founders in Shorla Pharma as centre clients and beneficiaries of our Entrepreneur in Residence Programme from our centres.

Shane Ryan – Fiid
Often the best business ideas come out of someone spotting a gap in the market - because they've noticed it in their own life. Which is what happened to entrepreneur Shane Ryan when he realised his busy life often left him too tired to cook. Unhappy with the quick meal options available, he decided to do something about it and set up his vegan food bowl business Fiid. We chatted to him about the brand and the growing interest in plant-based food.

Barry Lunn (the latest venture is Provizio)
Barry co-founded this with fellow LEAP participant Luke Curley (both had a different business whilst on LEAP. This latest venture demonstrates the power of the LEAP programme and the relationships built while in the HEAC and on the programme – which is effectively New Frontiers but without the stipend.

Lisa O’Donoghue - Votechink (recently nominated for a European innovation award)
Lisa O’Donoghue’s passion for the materials that make up the world around us led her to develop a robot-automated machine for recycling LCDs. Lisa had completed her doctorate in high-temperature technology for aero gas-turbine engines when she recognised the need for a recycling solution for liquid crystal displays or LCDs. At the time, the use of LCDs was exploding because of consumer demand for flat-screen TVs and high-tech computer monitors.
