Liberto’s Organic Edamame Fettuccine has been announced as the Gold Medal winner of the 2017 UK Free From Food Awards in the Pizza & Pasta category. Liberto was competing side by side with great brands such as UK’s Doves Farm & Italy’s Riso Gallo.  The award was presented by Antony Worrall Thompson before 350 guests at the Royal College of Physicians, London, last Tuesday night.   Liberto is a range of quality and delicious products, full of nature’s goodness that also happens to be gluten-free & organic.

Awards DirectorMichelle Berriedale-Johnsonwhen preparing to announce Liberto as the winner, shared some of the judges' comments: ‘Clever! Nice and interesting texture with a zingy green note. Great nutritional profile – and low carb! Really like it!’

Speaking about the event, Antony Worrall Thompson, long term patron of the awards, said ‘It is amazing how much has changed in just ten years. All credit to the pioneering small producers [like Liberto] who have followed their dreams to create wonderful free-from foods – to the supermarkets who have backed them – and to the Free From Food Awards who have encouraged and celebrated them!’

Based in the Hartnett Enterprise Acceleration Centre, LIT, Limerick, Liberto was founded by two passionate foodies, Máiréad Maher & Marek Mlynarczyk. Speaking about the award, Mairead said “At Liberto, we believe we all deserve to be able to eat a healthy, wholesome diet that is full of natural, wholesome and safe to eat ingredients. We are so honoured and excited that the UK Free From Awards has recognised this in such a wonderful way!“  Mairead also had a special word of thanks for the retailers working with them, the Limerick Local Enterprise Office and LIT who have supported the brand’s launch. “Without their support, people would not have the opportunity to share our dream for a healthier more natural life.”

Liberto has recently launched in Supervalu and Dunnes Stores. It is also available from  Independent Irish Health Foods, several independent health food stores nationwide and various outlets in the UK.
