TUS 2024 Startup Awards Highlight Breakthrough AI Tech Tackling Cost of Living Through Innovative Bill Management

The awards ceremony recognised outstanding achievements in the startup community, showcasing eleven of the brightest and most promising enterprises of the year.
While the innovations span various sectors, OneBill Utilities by Adem Ergen, focusing on AI-powered bill management, clinched the overall winner title, spotlighting a significant advancement in easing financial burdens. This fintech innovation is set to redefine consumer experiences with bill payments and subscriptions, offering a seamless, automated solution to maximise financial efficiency.
The New Frontiers programme, supported by Enterprise Ireland, and run in the Midwest by TUS at the Hartnett Enterprise Acceleration Centre in collaboration with UL Nexus is a beacon for entrepreneurial development, providing a nurturing environment for startups. The programme facilitates a journey from idea incubation to market-ready innovation, emphasising the diverse potential of technology to impact various facets of life and industry.
While OneBill Utilities stands out for its direct approach to mitigating financial stress, the awards also celebrated the ingenuity of Margaret Power's SiBark, named 'Best Innovation' for their pet security products and services, and highlighted Lindsay Moynagh of Wendor as 'One to Watch' reflecting its significant potential for growth and success. These recognitions demonstrate the diverse range of innovations among the award participants.
Paula Carroll, Enterprise Ireland New Frontiers National Programme Manager said, “The New Frontiers programme is a critically important element of Enterprise Ireland's Regional Strategy. It was launched in 2012 with the aim of accelerating the development of sustainable new businesses that have strong employment and growth potential, particularly in regional locations. Within the Midwest region (Limerick programme) over 600 budding entrepreneurs have received intensive support to develop and grow their businesses. This year's array of innovations reflects the dynamic, multifaceted and impactful nature of our entrepreneurial landscape.”
Professor Vincent Cunnane, President of TUS, echoed this sentiment, "The diversity and calibre of this year's entrepreneurs underscore the vital role of innovation in driving both economic and societal progress.
